I love, love, love my iPad, as do my two little girls (ages 3 and 5), so I was super excited to try out the new iPieces games from Pressman Toys. These games use real pieces that interact with the iPad screen, and the free downloadable app. The games themselves cost under $10 each.
I tried out iPieces Snakes & Ladders first. This game is for 2-4 players, ages 3+. Game play is simple, like the classic board game. There was some drama with my three-year-old when she realized she didn't have sole ownership of the ladder, and a little drama with my five-year-old when she landed on the longest snake and was sent back almost to the beginning. We had a talk about being a sore loser. I think they will come around. They had fun playing it otherwise. It was a fun game to play as a family.
I also tried out iPieces Air Hockey. This game is for two players, ages 4+. It was definitely more challenging. Air hockey is one of my favorite arcade games to play because I can beat just about anyone! Seriously. I was a little disappointed with this version of air hockey because it just doesn't feel like the real thing. The screen is too small and the puck moves so fast that any scoring seemed more like luck than skill. The girls enjoyed it though. Watching them play this game was kind of like watching them play Fruit Ninja.
I didn't try the iPieces Fishing game, but that one looks like it would be fun for the kids, too.
